The VKontakte social network has a huge number of different public pages and communities that are created daily. Some of them ultimately turn out to be unpopular and do not satisfy the creator with their result, so it is no longer needed. Then the question of our article arises for them.

This can be asked by absolutely any person who has ever created their own community using the popular social network VKontakte.

The fact is that the functionality of the site does not provide a function for deleting a community and for this reason this question arises among users.

Fortunately, I know and will tell you the complete algorithm of actions necessary to perform in order to delete the group that I created myself.

The refusal procedure is as follows:

In the list that opens, next to each community there is an ellipsis icon. You need to click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Select “Unsubscribe” from the menu.

The community you left will have a name written in a more faded color than the others.
If you want to unsubscribe from a closed group, you will have to confirm your actions in the corresponding dialog box.

Attention! This method can be used in situations where you need to unsubscribe from 100 or less communities at a time. If there are hundreds or even thousands of groups on the list, then manually exiting them will be a very labor-intensive task.

If you left the group by accident, then without any problems you can restore your participation only until the page is updated. To do this, just click on the “Restore” hyperlink, which appears immediately after deletion.

Removing from a smartphone

Now we’ll look at how to delete a VK community from a smartphone. Similar actions can be done from a phone, but it is much more inconvenient, in my opinion, since manually deleting participants is very problematic.

But it can still be done. The actions are similar to those from a computer. I’ll tell you how to get to the “management” tab.

Go to the group that you created and want to delete. In the top right corner you will see a gear icon, which when clicked will take you to community settings. Click on it.

A page of parameters will open in front of you, in which we are interested in the “Information” and “Participants” items. In the first one we change the type, and in the second we delete subscribers.

Removing subscribers is done by clicking the three dots on the right and selecting “remove from community.”

Changing the group type occurs in the same way as in the case of a computer. Go to “Information” and select “Private” after all the necessary actions, as in the computer version.

I don’t recommend doing this except in cases where there is no access to a PC at all. It will take much more time than at the computer.

Instrumentum browser extension

At the moment, many add-ons have been created for VK that expand the capabilities of the social network. These include “Instrumentum”. It uses the VKontakte API, thanks to which the user can fully control the entire process of removing communities from the list.

Reference! The Instrumentum extension is used not only for leaving groups, but also for other operations on the social network. For example, you can use it to quickly clear your friends list.

Here is a detailed algorithm for using the extension with the Google Chrome browser:

Sign in to the Chrome Web Store home page. Enter the word “Instrumentum” in the search bar.
Find the extension you need and click the “Install” button next to its name.
In the dialog box that opens, click the “Install extension” button. Wait for the installation process to complete.

After the extension is installed, you can start working with it:

In the upper right part of the window there is an extensions panel. Find the new Instrumentum icon there and click on it.
Log in via VKontakte by clicking the appropriate button.
If you have not logged into the social network up to this point, you need to enter the registration data from your personal page in a special form.
In the window that appears, click the “Allow” button. This will allow the application to use all the functionality regarding the active profile.
Click on the extension icon again to open the main menu.
Click on the “My Page” line and go down to the bottom of the section where the “List of Communities” block is located.
Click on the “Clearing the list of communities” hyperlink. The procedure for mass exit from all groups in the profile will begin.
The system will offer to save participation in communities where the user is an owner, administrator or moderator. To approve this proposal, check the appropriate box and click the “Clear list of communities” button.
Clearing the group list will take some time, so you should wait for a signal from the system.
Return to your personal VK page, check the list of communities and make sure that all groups are missing.

Attention! If the removal process has already begun, it cannot be stopped!

In what cases is it useful to unsubscribe from all groups at once?

As we said earlier, the most common reason is a clogged news feed. At some point, the user realizes that there is too much “garbage” in his feed, content that is of no value to him.

If there are few communities (50 – 100), you can easily unsubscribe from them manually. In addition, you can do this selectively, leaving the most interesting publics. But if there are hundreds or thousands of them, then the manual method will not be the most effective. At best, you will waste a lot of time, at worst, you will get tired of all this routine without ever completing the process.

It’s much easier to use one of the methods I described, unsubscribe from all groups at once, and then subscribe back to those few whose content arouses your interest.

Less common reasons are the following:

account cleaning (for one reason or another);
the page has changed owner, etc.

Deleting all groups at once using the VkOpt program

This method is usually used by advanced users and SMM masters. It involves installing a special program that will perform all the steps to clear the list of communities.

Here's a little instruction:

Login to the VkOpt.net website. On the main page, click on the “Download Page” link, which is located in the central part of the screen.

In the window that opens, select the browser that will be used in conjunction with the program. In this case it is Google Chrome. Click the “Install” button.

In the dialog box, confirm your actions using the “Install extension” button.
When the extension is installed, you need to log into the VK social network, select a language and click on the OK button.
Log in to the “My Groups” section. At the top of the screen, find the “Leave all” link and click on it.

Attention! When working with this application, all communities are removed from the list, except those where the user is the owner or administrator. The cleaning process takes place automatically, regardless of the number of groups.

Program to leave all vk.com groups

Option 1 - deletion with the help of social network administrators

This method is most often chosen by those users who have managed to develop their public to an impressive scale: thousands of subscribers, tens of thousands of photos and publications, etc. In this case, VKontakte technical support will help. The same applies to situations when the group is blocked.

If it is enough for technical specialists to press one button, then you will have to perform a whole sequence of actions.

So:

• first log into your own account;

• look for a horizontal menu, and in it there is a section called “Help”;

• now we should look for the inscription with the words “here you can report...”. A corresponding field will appear in which we state our request - in our case, to delete the community. You can even do this from your phone;

• to make it easier for admins to understand, you must attach a link to the community being deleted.

All that remains is to wait for the request to be fulfilled. It is quite possible that you will need to provide additional confirmation that the group belongs to you, and the request was written specifically from your page.

There is one script for the VK website that has been working for more than two years. It's quite easy to use. You don't need to change anything in the page code. It is enough to do the following:

Go to the VK page with groups https://vk.com/groups
Next, enter the following JS code into the address bar of your browser:

Don't forget to remove the *** at the beginning and the old contents of the address bar. Only this code without *** should remain in it.

Press the key.

Ready! Now the system itself will unsubscribe from all groups. To stop the script, close the page or restart the browser.

Be prepared that the computer will be busy with the script for the near future. Action confirmation windows will appear on the page, and the page itself will be constantly updated. Don't be scared! You don't need to poke anything. Brew yourself some tea and watch the process.

We complete deleting the VKontakte community

All that remains is to remove the administrator. And since you are one, you just need to leave the community. To do this, on the main page, expand the “You are in a group” list. And here select “Leave group”.

A warning will appear stating that this action will cause you to lose administrative rights. We agree and click the “Leave Group” button.

After this, your VKontakte community will be deleted.
