First, you need to understand the literal translation into Russian, namely, fixing capital letters. This is truly a very convenient tool, especially when you need to write one, a number of letters or a full text in large characters. On a standard keyboard, it can be seen in an accessible place: the middle of the left side of the main side of the equipment. It is possible to find between keys like "A" (Latin layout), "Tab" and "shift". Move from one position to another by pressing once.
As for modern technologies, this button (including on Android) was created directly to fix the upper case. Initially, it could not function as a separate key. So previously it was necessary to hold down a special switch in order for text to be created using capital letters. As you can see, today everything has become much simpler.
You can also disable it using a similar action - by one click on “capslock”. Speaking about punctuation marks and numbers, it is worth mentioning their unchanged form in any given situation. It is activated by the corresponding key and causes all letters typed to be displayed in capital form. And the remaining keys will switch to writing alternative characters. But why is this necessary, and who might even need to write in capital letters?
This can come in handy when you need to enter a long word or several words so that they are necessarily displayed in capital, “large” characters.
