In five minutes I saved the dialogues in a convenient form. I'll be glad to share. And I’ll save you time and write a post. So, how to save a VKontakte dialogue without third-party applications and services?

To get started, you will need OpenOffice Calc, Excel or any spreadsheets. Open your VKontakte dialog in the browser. Let's scroll through it all to the beginning. Press the key combination Ctrl+A (select all), and then Ctrl+C (copy everything). This moment is just visible in the screenshot above. Don’t be alarmed that we are copying the entire page - we can easily remove the garbage.

Attention! If the dialogue is large enough, then it is better to paste it into Notepad first. Then we copy the contents of Notepad into a spreadsheet. If you copy a large dialog directly into Excel, it will freeze for a very long time, if not completely.

Launch OpenOffice Calc or Excel. Paste the copied dialogue with garbage into the spreadsheet. This process is shown below.

Now let's start cleaning the table. We delete the top lines, move the column with the date to the left, and move the column with names to the left until you are satisfied with the placement of names above the text of the messages. After that, I ended up with an empty column “C”, which I deleted. Here you can do everything to your taste, as it will be convenient for you to read.

This is what happened to me.

Not bad already. Nothing extra. Now you can save in any format.

Why is it better to do it in a spreadsheet rather than in Word or OpenOffice Writer? Because the formatting in the table does not work. If you save (by copying and pasting into Notepad) this dialog later as a simple text file, the formatting will remain as an easy-to-read dialog.

What files can I download?

Processing a request to receive an archive may take from two hours to two days. However, some have already received a list of their personal data. So one of TJ’s editors received a ZIP archive of the data that the social network had collected about him over more than ten years of use. Please note that data is collected even from sections that are protected by privacy settings. All files took up 84.1 MB, in the archive he found:

The need to save the history of communication with certain people often occurs among VKontakte users. But not everyone finds ways to do this. Simply copying all messages with the user results in a mess, after which the information needs to be processed and edited. How to do without these procedures? Ways to copy correspondence

If your dialogue with the user consists of a dozen messages that you want to save on your PC, then you shouldn’t bother. Select everything with the mouse and press Ctrl+C. Then open Notepad or a Word document and press Ctrl+V. The text appears in the document.

You can also use OpenOffice Calc or Excel instead of Word. The fact is that after copying and pasting, not only the dialogue with the user will be saved, but also unnecessary information. It is easier to get rid of garbage in a table than in a text document. But formatting for reading dialogue is more convenient in a text file such as notepad.

Printout “for yourself”

If you need message texts not to resolve some legal issues (more on that below), then you can use two options. The easiest way is to open the chat, select the parts you need, then right-click and “Copy”. Then you save the text in Word and you can print the document from Viber. How to print correspondence from Viber, after saving it to email:

Open the messenger and go to the settings section.

VKontakte did not explain why this is necessary, but we can say with confidence that at least to comply with the “Yarovaya Law” in force in the Russian Federation.
Visit history and data about users’ devices - VKontakte sees the operating system of the gadgets from which people log into their accounts, browser, provider name, IP address and similar data. With the consent of users, the social network gains access to the devices’ microphone, their cameras, phone book, installed applications and notifications. Why this is needed is also not explained.

History of publications and subscriptions - “VKontakte” stores information about who and when you liked, what communities you subscribed to, what posts you published, what you commented on, who you added to “Friends” and removed from them, what media files you posted, and also call history. The social network did not say why this was needed.
Photos and videos in which you have been tagged - apparently only if the user has confirmed their affiliation with a specific media file. This data helps the service improve personal recommendations and serves to develop the social component of the platform.
Bank card information - if you used VKontakte payment services, the social network stores the first and last digits of your bank card. This is done to increase security - a specific payment card is “linked” to a specific user.
Data from third parties - for example, if information about your profile is in your friend’s phone book, and he allowed the social network to access it, then VKontakte will collect the available information about you and combine it with the existing one.

How to print correspondence from your phone
