Instant Recovery
You can get back an erased VKontakte message very quickly. The easiest way is instant recovery. But it can only be used if you accidentally deleted a message and immediately decided to return it.
Immediately after you have selected one or more messages and clicked on the trash can icon, a deletion notification and a link will appear in place of the erased message and a link by clicking on which you can return the message back.
Please note that you can mark several tens, hundreds and even thousands of messages at once and erase them with one click, but you will have to restore them one at a time, since VK does not provide a mass recovery function.
There is a very important point - the recovery link will disappear as soon as you go to another page, or refresh or close the current one. At the same time, you can move to other conversations and dialogues - in this case, the link will remain in place.
This method has a couple more features:
- It does not work in VKontakte mobile applications. You can use quick message recovery only from the full and mobile versions of the site.
- If you deleted not several messages in a dialogue, but all correspondence with the user at once, then you will not be able to return it. The recovery link will not appear, which means it will be impossible to undo the deletion. There is a small plus in that when you delete all correspondence you receive a warning notice, so the likelihood of accidental deletion is minimal.

Within one day (24 hours) from the moment of submission, but not from the moment of the last edit. Once the deadline has expired, the message cannot be changed in any way.

Why can't I change the message?
Possible reasons:
- More than a day (24 hours) has passed since you sent it. After this time, you can no longer edit the message.
- You are trying to change the message in the old version of the mobile application on your phone, but there was no such option yet. Update the application or log into your VK through the mobile or full version of the site.

So that you can correct some stupid typo or rephrase something if you wrote and thought that the interlocutor would not fully understand you.

On the phone
Editing messages in VK via phone is just as easy as editing via a computer, however, entries that contain only links are still more convenient to edit via a PC. The reason for this is simple - when you click on an SMS link, instead of a menu, the link itself opens.
But before following these instructions, first make sure that you have the latest version of the application installed.

In the application
To edit in the mobile application you will need:
- Open a conversation and tap on the desired SMS.
- Select “Edit” from the menu that opens.
- Make changes and click the checkmark in the circle.
In mobile version
In the mobile version, the algorithm is slightly different; you will need to do the following:
- Open m.vk.com on your phone and log in.
- Open the desired conversation.
- Tap the desired letter - it should be highlighted in color.
- Click the pencil icon at the bottom.
- In the window that appears, make changes and click the checkmark in the circle.
If you can’t select a message, then you need to check the date it was sent: most likely, the entries are older than a day. You should also keep in mind that in the mobile version, emoticons in the text can only be deleted, but not edited.
#2 With the help of technical support
To view deleted messages on VK, you can try contacting the social service. networks, but in reality this option is rarely effective. You will have to try very hard to convince the moderators of the good reasons why the messages were deleted. The likelihood that you will get help is extremely low.
- Go to your VK profile, click on the small avatar in the upper right corner of the monitor;
- Select the “Help” section;
- Enter “I removed materials from the page” in the search bar (there is no need to write a phrase about how to view them);
- Click on the block that pops up;
- Click “Write to technical support”;
- Describe the situation: we advise you to use your gift of persuasion 200%.
Be prepared for the fact that there will be no response, or you will receive a reply stating that it is impossible to view or see deleted messages on VK. But there is still a chance to get help!

What to do first
The easiest way is to use the “Recover” function by pressing the button of the same name in the place of the deleted message. This works if the page was not refreshed or closed after deletion.
! However, if you deleted the message and updated the dialogue, then this option will not work for you.
Your interlocutor will not see your actions with correspondence.
The function to recover deleted messages is available only to computer users. If you corresponded using a tablet or smartphone, you will also not be able to restore the dialogue.
Second way
Try contacting VK technical support. To do this, go to the “Help” section and look at the answers to frequently asked questions. If there is no such topic yet, create a new question and send it to support.
To avoid having to correspond for a long time, describe your request in as much detail as possible, explain the dialogue with which user you want to restore and for what period. In the text of your request, be sure to indicate the account id of the user with whom you corresponded, as well as your email address. The answer comes in 1-30 hours, you can find it in the “My questions” section or in your email.
Often, technical support advises asking the other person to forward these messages to you again, since when you delete the correspondence, they are erased only from you. But this is only possible if you did not click the “Delete for everyone” button.
Third way
It is much more difficult to restore deleted correspondence “from oblivion” than from a backup copy that was created in advance. To avoid such problems in the future, link the page to your email in your account settings. After this, all VK messages will be automatically sent to you by email.
To quickly find the letter you are interested in in your mailbox, enter the name of your interlocutor in the search bar.
Checking the VKopt extension in action
Before preparing this material, I analyzed information regarding the recovery of deleted messages. Many people advised using the VKopt extension. Supposedly, you can use it to collect all the statistics of your messages (see VK message statistics), and view any dialogue, including deleted ones. I tested this extension at work. Here's what I got.

Next, go to the “My Messages” section. Here we have a new menu item called “Actions”. Open it and click “Statistics”.

All your dialogues will be collected here. Pay attention to the "Last message" column. The date and time are indicated there - and they are made in the form of a link. The developers claim that if you click on it, you will be taken to a dialogue page. Even if it was deleted.
But this function doesn't work! I specifically tried to delete the correspondence with the user, then went to it from the “Statistics” page. As a result, I ended up with a general list of dialogues.

How to restore the dialogue?
Let's say you deleted the entire conversation with your important interlocutor and want to restore it. It's not a problem, just follow the instructions.
Important! The certificate states that a copy of the conversation was kept by the interlocutor. In this regard, you can ask this interlocutor to forward your dialogue to you.

Next, in the “Describe your problem” block, enter any text.
Then you will see a certain instruction, you will need to follow it. If it didn’t help you, then click on the “None of these options are suitable” button. In the window that opens, click on “Ask a Question”.
Post your problem, which is formed in a special form. Ask for your correspondence with the user to be restored and indicate his address.
The answer will be displayed in the “My Questions” tab.
How to recover messages on a mobile device
On mobile devices that support Android, it is sometimes possible to restore lost correspondence using the special Delete Message VKontakte program.
This free application allows you to view and restore messages deleted no later than 20 minutes ago (the limit is set by the VKontakte social network itself). However, this is only possible if there is at least one saved message after the deleted ones.
It is safe to use the Delete Message VKontakte application, as it works through a secure connection to VK. All user data is encrypted and transmitted only to the social network server.
It is not recommended to download programs for restoring correspondence to your computer or phone from unknown sources. Especially if they ask for a user token, which can lead to account hacking and identity theft.

How can I change the message?
You can change a sent message in personal correspondence within 24 hours (24 hours) from the moment it was sent.
- Click on the message or hover over it. In the mobile application, you just need to click on the message once, you don’t need to hold your finger.
- Select “Edit” or click the edit button, it looks like a pencil:

- Editing of your last sent message will be enabled.
- Edit the message and press Enter.

Individual messages
You have a specific conversation open and you have deleted one or more messages in it. In this case, the “Restore” button will appear in place of the deleted positions. Each message will need to be recovered separately. If you refresh the page, the opportunity to return the correspondence will disappear along with the lines of dialogue themselves.
IMPORTANT. When you delete messages from a conversation, whether incoming or sent, they continue to be stored by the other person. If the reason for clearing the history was not a disagreement, but there was something valuable in the conversation, it is quite possible to ask a friend to copy and send you the necessary piece of correspondence.
