In May of this year, the developers of the official VKontakte client for Windows Phone released a program update that removed the ability to cache audio recordings. This step was associated with a change in the social network's policy regarding music. We recently published instructions for installing the VKachai application from a third-party developer, which can serve as a replacement for the music functions of older versions of the official VK client. However, it remains the most convenient solution for working with a social network on Windows smartphones, so many users would like to return the ability to save music to it.

We decided to publish the installation file of the previous version of the VKontakte application (4.11.1), which was released in November 2021. The audio caching function in it is available and works stably. It does not have a couple of new features (mentions in messages, for example) that were added in May 2021. The only possible option is to install a third-party application, which you will not find in the Windows Store. Audio recordings still work in the VK Advanced client version 4.11.1.0. In version 4.12 with expanded functionality dated 07.25.17 it is no longer available. That's why we took a slightly older version. Please note that music works with this client only if the current account has NOT been logged in through the updated VK client (via Windows Mobile, Android, iOS - it doesn’t matter). We are talking only about mobile applications; you can access it through a browser. If you nevertheless missed the update and the client was updated while you were logged in, you will have to register a new VK page, specifically for audio recordings (music works with newly created pages).
