Selecting the optimal picture size
One of the disadvantages of VKontakte is the loss of image quality when uploading it to social media. net. There is no way to completely avoid this, but the appearance of the final picture in a VK post can be improved if you stick to certain dimensions. The optimal proportions for uploading images will be the following:
- image for the post – 700x500 px;
- image for external link – 537x240 px;
- Profile photo – 200x500 px.
If you follow the dimensions indicated above, the quality of the uploaded photos will remain as good as possible, which will help you get the desired visual effect from working with them.
Using delayed posting
The functionality of VKontakte allows you to set a timer for published posts so that they are published at a set time in automatic mode. This function makes it possible to competently plan a publication schedule for a long period (a deferred entry can be made a year in advance), arranging posts in the required order for a certain period of time. This allows you to free up time both for analyzing the group’s activities and preparing new content, as well as for other equally important matters that will always be found when running a group.
A delayed post is created on the wall by clicking on the “More” button and selecting the “Timer” item. Next, set the desired date and time and click “Add to Queue.” The deferred recording is ready.
How to tag a user in a post
There are two ways to mention a person in a post:
1 – just copy the link to his page and paste it into the post. In this case, he will not know about it until he sees this recording himself.
2 – create an active link to your profile. To do this, you need to open any post on the user’s wall by clicking on the date of publication/repost and copy the numbers from the address bar following the word “wall”. If there are no posts on the wall, then you can open any photo and copy the numbers after the word “photo” from the address bar. This way we will get its id. Now we create a new post, put *, after it we insert the resulting id and after it we enter the person’s name in brackets. The final result looks like this: *id11111 (Name), where “11111” is the user id address. We publish a post and immediately receive the result in the form of a person’s name with an active link to his page, and this user, in turn, receives notifications about the publication of a post mentioning him.
What is graffiti? Where is it located and what does it look like
So, we have already found out what a message is, you can place it directly on the wall or in a message. In addition, you can decorate a photo with it and send it to the conversation.
For some reason, the developers separated the capabilities of this service for PCs and phones. From your phone you can't place graffiti on a wall without a photo, but you can draw it in a message. And with a PC, on the contrary, the message is only on top of the photo, and freely on the wall.
On the computer
When using the full version of VK, the question may arise - how to send graffiti to VK from a computer. If this is what interests you now, then read on.
How to place on the wall
First, let's figure out how to draw graffiti in VK on a wall:
- Open your VK page.
- If you want to leave such a message on your wall, then click on the line “What’s new with you,” if you have a friend, then go to his page and click on the line “Write something...”.
- A menu will appear at the bottom, hover over the “More” inscription.
- Click "Graffiti" in the drop-down menu.
- A window will open in front of you where you can give free rein to your creative imagination. You can change the color of the brush (the palette contains a lot of beautiful colors and their shades), as well as its thickness and intensity (Transparency).
- Once your artistic message is ready, click “Attach” and then “Publish.”
If someone leaves such a picture on your wall, then under it you will see a button “Draw on their wall.” Click on it and you will immediately find yourself in a window for drawing on the wall of this person.
How to send in a message
You can only draw graffiti in VK on a PC in messages over photos. For this:
- Log in to VK.
- Open a conversation with the friend you want to send the drawing to.
- Click on the paper clip symbol that allows you to attach files and select “Photos”.
- Select from the list or upload a photo, it will appear under the message line.
- Hover your cursor over it and click on the magnifying glass icon that appears on the image.
- Now tap "More" and select "Effects".
- An editing field will appear on the right, and at the top you will see the “Drawing” item.
It is in this section that you can use the same tools as when creating graphics.
True, the color palette here is much poorer, but there are tabs with other interesting tools. When finished, click "Save", close the photo and send a message. This is a way to send graffiti to VK in messages from a computer, which is available within the standard capabilities of this social network. There are several other ways to avoid having to pre-load photos, but more on that later.
By the way, graffiti is the simplest, and most importantly the OFFICIAL way to change the color of the text. It’s not so easy to write a regular message in all the colors of the rainbow.
On a smartphone
Let's now take a step-by-step look at how to add graffiti to VK on your phone. In principle, the sequence is very similar, with the exception of some points. But more on this.
How to place on the wall
As you remember, here you will first have to upload a photo, which we can decorate with graphics, and only then post this post on the wall.
- Go to your profile and click on the line “What’s new with you” located under your avatar.
- Click the picture icon and select the photo you want to complete.
- Expand it and click “Edit”, then “Drawing” at the bottom.
- You can create. Then click “Post”.
How to send in a message
Everything is much simpler here. This function on the phone is well thought out and easy to launch:
- Log in to your account and start a dialogue with a friend whom you want to please with your creativity.
- Click on the paperclip symbol in the text entry line.
- A list of photos will open in front of you, and at the top of the block there will be gray widgets for other functions - scroll them to the left until you find the “Graffiti” icon, click on it.
- Click "Draw" and enjoy the process.
The color palette here is not as rich as in the PC version, but it is enough. There are also settings for brush thickness and an eraser function.
Of course, options with pre-loading photos are not graffiti in the direct sense of this service on VK, but the set of tools offered in this case is the same.
How to make bold text in a VKontakte post
Not in the post itself. Today such a possibility does not exist. Bold font can only be used when designing wiki pages. If you are the owner of a group and not a public page, you can use bold text to design the main news. To do this, you need to go to the community settings and make “Materials” open. After this, the “Latest News” tab will appear at the top of the main page, which is designed in wiki markup mode and allows you to attach photo and video materials and change the font type. But this opportunity is available only for groups and only for one top post.
How to make a picture yourself?
If you don’t want to think about extra expenses, you’ll have to make the picture yourself. And to get the perfect image, you need to work with composition, angle, filters and much more. Western experts tell us how to do this:
- take into account the rule of thirds - when determining visual centers, the frame is usually divided by lines parallel to its sides, in proportions 3:5, 2:3 or 1:2. The rule states that the image should be considered divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced parallel horizontal and two parallel vertical lines. Important parts of the composition should be located along these lines, or at their intersection - at the so-called power points
. - Western experts advise photographing an object from below or from above to get a more interesting viewing angle,
- sensitivity settings - everything is simple, the worse the lighting, the higher the ISO parameter must be set on the camera, and vice versa,
- pay attention to the background - no unnecessary or unwanted objects,
- Use the zoom as little as possible - it certainly won’t add quality to the picture.

How to take a photo correctly?
If VK requires a photo in the background of the application
You need to take a photo of yourself against the background of the monitor (screen) so that your face and application are clearly visible on the screen. The photo should be clear (in focus), the lighting should be good (the face should not be in the shadows). We recommend using a horizontal photo format (landscape orientation). Some people think that they need to take a photo in front of their VK page that needs to be restored. This is not true. You need to take a photo against the background of the application page that you are filling out and where you are going to attach this photo.
If VK requires a photo with a code on paper
If you need to write “For VK” and a secret code on paper, then take a thick marker and make the inscription large enough. The photo must be clear and taken in good lighting.
