The web page at ... may be temporarily unavailable or permanently moved to a new address

Users of popular social networks may be faced with the question of why the browser does not access VK and writes the page is unavailable, requiring a quick solution.

After all, if a page is hacked, spam will most likely be sent to all subscribers and friends.

And in any other situations, it is simply advisable to get to your page to continue communication or even work, since some use VKontakte to sell and advertise their products.

Why is the web page at the specified address sometimes unavailable?

This problem can appear when entering any websites, forums, and even when entering social networking sites. The error text may display different versions of codes: ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED, ERR_CONNECTION_RESET, ERR_CONNECTION_DENIED and others. Also, a similar error can appear on all sites at once, no matter which one we try to open. Failures can be caused by many factors. But the main one is viruses in your computer’s operating system.

Cause:Consequences:
System, internal conflicts of WindowsThe structure of the hosts file and other OS components is disrupted.
Lack or problem with the InternetThey may also cause a web page to become temporarily unavailable.
Blocking sites or browserWhen all sites do not open due to antivirus systems. Some programs do not “recognize” each other, which causes problems in their operation.
Incorrect network settingsOften, router settings and DNS can cause a lack of Internet access.

Results

After access to the page has been restored, the first thing you should do is change the password - regardless of the cause of the problem.

You should also check the system again for viruses and set the normal level of protection, if this has not been done before.

It is also advisable to warn your subscribers and friends in case you receive offers from your page to transfer money or send SMS.

You should also be careful when you receive similar offers from other users - it is possible that they, too, have been hacked.

  3. Check the box next to “Cookies and other site data”.
  4. Click “Delete data”.

Now try again to visit the site with which the problem occurred. If you fail again, read on.

Checking your computer for viruses

Most computer viruses, when they enter a user’s device, tend to replace the hosts file. This is necessary to redirect attackers with various selfish goals to fraudulent sites. And despite the fact that antivirus programs closely monitor the hosts file, viruses often manage to replace it or completely disable it. Phishing (spoofed) sites, as a rule, are no different from the original in design. But they pose a great threat. Since they require us to enter our personal information: login, password, payment information, etc.

As soon as you fix the hosts file according to the instructions above, your computer should immediately be scanned for viruses. Since your computer’s protection has already missed infected files, you need to download a utility to scan your system from the Internet. There are several of them, you can use the Dr.WEB CureIt! follow the link: https://free.drweb.ru/download+cureit+free/. It doesn't need to be installed.

Dr.WEB utility

After downloading, launch it by double clicking the mouse. You need to check the agreement and select the path to scan. Leaving the default path, Dr.WEB CureIt! will scan your entire computer. All suspicious files and folders indicated by the antivirus must be deleted or disinfected. Also try using different browsers. Try reinstalling the one you use most often. Then you need to try to log into the site that was displaying the error: the web page at ... may be temporarily unavailable or permanently moved to a new address.

Change your proxy settings

Slow browser performance when loading web pages or searching may be due to a connection through a proxy server. Detecting a proxy server... appears in your browser window.

or
ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED
, change the settings. Here's how to do it:

After this, the Internet connection will be disconnected. If you are unsure what settings to set, contact your network administrator. Please note that Chromebooks do not support proxy servers that require authentication.

Note.

If you use a Chromebook at work or school, you won't be able to change your proxy settings. In this case, contact your device administrator.

Web- page is unavailable

.

If this hasn’t happened to anyone, click on the link, the browser thinks for a long time and then a notification appears: “The web page is unavailable.”

«.

The design of the notification depends on the browser, but the meaning remains the same - the browser cannot open this page.

What to do in this case?

The easiest way out is to close the page, it doesn’t always work - since we tried to open it, for some reason we needed it. Checking the availability of a page is not difficult.

To do this, go to Google and enter the query in the search bar: site availability.

We are quite satisfied with the first search result - the site https://2ip.ru/site-availability/ (in general, please note that search results are ranked by importance, so the best sites are in first place).

Enter the site address and see the result.

The first case is clear - the site does not work. Temporary or permanent is unknown, but at the moment it is impossible to get there.

The second one is a little more difficult. The site is accessible, but you cannot get there. There may be a problem on the ISP or computer side. Let's decide.

We go to the same reliable Google and enter the word “anonymizer” into the search bar.

An anonymizer is a site that changes your IP address. There is a lot of talk now that anonymizers should be banned because they will allow citizens to bypass website blocking. In fact, these are the right sites. For a long time (about a year and a half) I could only get to the site https://www.probios.ru/ through an anonymizer, and once it turned out to be the only way to get to the mail. On the other hand, not all anonymizers are equally secure, and entering a password when using anonymizers is not recommended at all.

But we just want to check the availability of the site. Enter its address on this page: https://hideme.ru/, click on the green button:

Start - Run (WinR) - notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts - Ok.

The last lines in the original file should be like this:

If after these lines in the hosts file there are other lines with site addresses, they are the ones blocking entry to the site.

You can, of course, remove these lines and, probably, entry to the site will be allowed. But before that, it is advisable to find out their origin. Sometimes such lines are written by viruses. And sometimes the users themselves who want to restrict entry to certain sites.

There are other ways to solve this problem, but they are quite complex and are not discussed in this post.

Causes and solutions to the problem

Firstly, very often users enter the wrong URL to a page, and therefore the browser cannot display it correctly. If it is entered correctly, you can try entering it on another computer or device that has access to the network. If the requested page is still unavailable, then most likely the site itself is faulty, but it is advisable to also check your Internet connection.

Secondly, if the correct page URL is entered and other sites open normally, then the problem may be due to accumulated cookies. Cookies are files that are automatically stored on your personal computer (browser) when you visit certain resources. In most cases, they store website settings or visitor profile data. This error can be caused by a damaged cookie and needs to be deleted. In order to do this, you need to open the Google Chrome browser menu (the image of a wrench in the upper right corner of the window), select “Settings” and “Show advanced settings”. Next you need to go to the “Content Settings” section. " and in the "Cookies" field, select "All cookies and site data." Use the “Delete All” button to remove cookies.

In addition, if you are working in incognito mode through a proxy server, then most likely the problem lies in its performance. In order to solve the immediate problem, try connecting through another web resource that allows you to work in incognito mode and try again.

As a result, one of the methods described above should result in the page being displayed correctly in the browser. If this does not happen, then don't worry - the problem lies with the website itself and the server used.

Access recovery

To restore access in the first case, when there is a problem with the computer, you should eliminate malicious files and return the hosts file to its original state.

If a profile is blocked due to hacking or for any other reason, you will have to contact the admin

Virus on the computer

A virus program on a computer that blocks access to a VKontakte page can enter the system when downloading unlicensed games and applications that supposedly allow you to hack someone’s account, increase your rating on a social network or Youtube, and other files from unverified sources.

After launching the file, when you try to log in, a message appears indicating that the page is unavailable.

Inaccessible VKontakte page

In the latter case, there is often a request to enter a password or phone number, as well as send an SMS.

This is required for scammers to be able to log into the page or directly transfer money from a phone account.

In any of the options, you should not fall for the tricks of scammers and provide confidential information.

After all, as a result of unauthorized access to the page, both the page owners and their friends who receive links or files with viruses and messages with fraudulent offers may suffer.

Moreover, you should not send SMS.

Correcting the hosts file manually

In order to fix a hosts file damaged by a virus, you need to do the following:

  1. Open the system drive (usually C:);
  2. Go to the folder WindowsSystem32driversetc;
  3. Find the hosts file.

The first three items can be replaced by typing the name in the Explorer search bar:

Finding a system file on your computer

Having opened the file using, for example, regular Notepad, you should make sure that its text does not contain any extra addresses after the entry 127.0.0.1 localhost.

An example of a hosts file

If the file does not open for some reason, you will need to restart your computer and enter Safe Mode. The mode is entered by pressing the F8 key before loading the system.

If there are any entries after the IP address - and, especially if among them there is text like vk.com or vkontakte.ru, you should definitely delete them and save the file.

After changing a system file, it is worth looking for the program that made the changes to it. Most often it is called vkontakte.exe - if you find one, you should delete it immediately.

Using the AVZ utility

If troubleshooting a problem with the hosts file causes the user some difficulty or fear of damaging system settings, you can download the AVZ program, which is specifically designed to resolve such issues.

  • Return the system file to its original state;
  • Clear static routes, which may also be the reason for lack of access to VK;
  • Perform other actions that optimize system performance.

You can download the program on the official website of its manufacturer (Kaspersky Lab) or on other services - preferably verified ones, so as not to download a new virus to your computer.

AVZ is launched as a computer administrator. This is followed by:

  1. Find the “File” item in the main menu;
  2. Select “System Restore”;
  3. Set all the checkboxes as indicated in Fig. 5.
  4. Restart your computer and log into VKontakte again.

Selecting items to restore files that interfere with access to VKontakte

Hacking check

If all else fails, you will have to check whether the web page was actually hacked or even already blocked after being hacked.

To do this, open the command line by entering the text “cmd” into the command window (called with the Win + R keys).

In the line you should enter nslookup vk.com, and immediately after that - ping vk.com.

The address that appears after executing the second command must match one of those shown by the first.

In this case, you receive proof that everything is fine with access to the social network. But your page has been hacked and blocked by the VKontakte administration.

Checking addresses belonging to VK

All that can be done in this case is to contact the administration to unblock your account.

In this case, they are usually asked to enter a password, phone number and a number of other data to identify the owner of the page (including a security question).

It usually takes some time to restore access.
